n. 830 Parallel Lives

If the stones, the earth or the movements of the planets do not care about the fate of man, the engraver wants to concentrate on this theme that is dear to him. In parallel lives, no expression of wealth, men, like living flames, appear in a disconcerting poverty. We could think of a state of poverty or extreme deprivation but, in their primordial nakedness, to a form of evasion, a return to the Essential. This desire for freedom and happiness allows them to face the challenges of the world. Observe them, they come running or stumbling. This drive towards the Infinite is the key to this world of spirit where the deep, absolute values reside. Men proceed with an unceasingly renewed commitment thanks to the will for inner and outer liberation. "There is no gift of self that makes free" (Maurice Zundel). In the ochre red of the sanguine, parallel lives introduce us to an amazing atmosphere. Far from " the traditional image of man of the past, the engraving is directed towards our naked contemporary who cries like a newborn in the dirty clothes of this era" (Walter Benjamin, Experience and poverty).
