In this copperplate, created in 1991, a recent process has refined the composition's atmosphere. In the "second state," the drypoint has given greater depth to the volumes, softening the contrasts between black and white with velvety hues; finally, the edition of fifteen copies has been embellished with the application of colored Bible paper. If books and notebooks are arranged without any apparent order, we perceive them in harmonious balance. They have no titles, but the details of their bindings make them pleasing to the eye. They transport us out of the present time and the surrounding chaos. Through writing, paper reveals to us the thoughts of men, real or imaginary stories, the power of memory. In today's world dominated by fast and often superficial communication, this engraving evokes the discreet yet constant beauty of ordinary objects.
