n. 818 Waiting for the dawn

For the creation of this engraving, the author was inspired by the vicissitudes of Apollodorus, architect of the emperor Hadrian. Far from his homeland, proscribed by power, Apollodorus leads a contemplative life on an island. Among the Greeks, the first form of contemplation was the observation of the starry sky (it is the activity of the wise man who tries to place himself above rational thought). In his existential search, the exile turns his gaze forward and
sees his happiness in waiting for the new day. The aqua green stitched paper attenuates contrasts and creates a delicate atmosphere.
