n. 776 The black sun II

The atmosphere of this etching is inspired by a story about the exile of Apollodorus, the famous architect of Hadrian. This character evokes the decline of a man who has lost strength and power (the solar eclipse), who arrives with disillusionment or contempt on the
threshold of death. The contrast between light and dark tones and the relationship between the sun and the gaze accentuate the image of an inner drama.
