n. 666 The long shadow

The long shadow offers the image of a man sitting on an armchair, with his back to the light; his gaze is turned towards the darkness. Appearances are deceptive, here the engraver does not want to represent a solitary who leads an existence outside the world but the being who chooses contemplative silence. When the time for listening and dialogue ends, a new dimension opens towards the Essential. In absolute silence, thought is freed from the rules of everyday life, space is cancelled and day merges with night. The velvety blacks of the drypoint favor this atmosphere of recollection and communicate a singular strength to the play of shadows and lights.
