What a challenge to depict such a vast landscape in such a limited format! This sea of land, so deep that the eye can't help but wander, is undulating with gentle hills. Nature is restful and tranquil, but on the horizon, swirling clouds disturb its bucolic atmosphere: threatening, they foretell the fire in the plain. The copperplate engraving is delicate, and the edition is enhanced by the use of a colored Bible paper background.
