n. 628 Omphalos

The word "omphalos" indicated, in the Greek world, that the Temple of Apollo in Delphi was the center of the world. In this etching, engraved in July 2011, the inner meaning is the same: the island emerging in the vast plain represents a central (and classical) view of a single point where all the roads of the world converge. It is an ideal and probably inaccessible center; although this unusual construction with concentric layers is a human work, men are absent. The nature with its lush vegetation creates a deep connection between stones and plants. The use of the drypoint makes the blacks even more sumptuous. Everything is regal in this perfectly balanced world.
