n. 845 Plant revolution

At first glance, this elegant etching reveals a sky cluttered with industrial chimneys, but upon closer inspection, we realize that it is not smoke rising from the chimneys, but majestic trees lulled by the wind. It is a surreal yet poetic vision, that of a "solitary traveler" who attempts to express, with a hint of irony, a pro-nature sentiment. The title, "Vegetal Revolution," already urges us toward a radical change in the economic and social order imposed by the 18th-century industrial revolution. The engraving therefore imagines a reversal of the pre-established rules to safeguard the balance between humanity and nature.
