This large copper was engraved to underline the symbolic values of an imaginary place of refuge. The garden of contemplations is not an easy space to conquer: a winding path, hostile nature, overhanging walls are obstacles that discourage easy enthusiasm. This "hortus conclusus", which occupies the center of the scene, has only one opening, four large cypresses - sentinels that soar towards the sky - and a small house from which it is possible to contemplate the rising sun. Even if this representation seems utopian, the author does not care. Through a path that is both delicate and incisive, the engraving is revealed (quite real) in a lesson in strength and movement.
