
In the series of three engravings depicting the interior of a house, we note the unusual format of The Main Floor III: two large spaces overlap, crossed by diagonals, one filled with objects and furniture left haphazardly, the other with a bare wall. It is an abandoned place, devoid of human presence. Attention is focused on the details of a precariously balanced pile of furniture, but the rays of light traced with burin and drypoint are the true protagonists: crossing the scene, they convey strength in the interplay between order and disorder.
