Bonvesin della Riva, a Lombard author of the second half of the 13th century, the edition features verses in the vernacular. He anticipates themes of Dante's Divine Comedy, of the Christian afterlife (salvation, the torments of Hell, glorious Paradise) with a spontaneous and acute writing. The verses are enriched with an etching where human existence evolves into a cosmic dimension.
