United by an ideal of brotherly love, these monks make an ascension, in symbiosis with the earth that sustains them. The world around them appears full of
heteroclitic, complex and inaccessible objects. This vertical traverse resembles a silent journey out of time. In the dualism between spirit and matter, the 
theme gives the engraver the opportunity to play freely with light and shadows.
